Before you start
What is Film Club?
A free app for running a film club with friends. Take turns picking, rate each film in secret, then reveal the scores together. Afterwards, talk it over on your club's discussion board, and keep a diary of everything you watch.
Is it free?
Yes. Clubs and your own film diary are free. If you enjoy it, you can buy me a coffee to help cover the servers.
How is it different from Letterboxd?
Letterboxd is your own film diary. Film Club is for a group: picking together, secret ratings and a shared reveal. You can use both: link your Letterboxd username to sync your diary.
How many people can be in a club?
Up to 10. Start a club on your own, then send your friends one invite link. They join in a tap, and you can run your first round the same evening.
How do we choose what to watch?
Your club decides how. Take turns picking, vote on the next film, or choose from a shared club watchlist. Then shuffle the picks into a running order, or let chance decide.
Do we have to watch at the same time?
No. Everyone watches when it suits them, in a cinema, at home or on a train, then rates it. The reveal waits until the club is ready.
Can other members see my score before the reveal?
No. Scores stay hidden until the club reveals them together.
Can I use it on my own?
Yes. Rate films, keep a diary and build a watchlist on your own, then start a club whenever you like.
How do I find new films to watch?
Use Discover to search and filter films and add anything to your watchlist or your club's. Your club watchlist also shows films that several members already want to see.
Is there an app?
It works in any browser on your phone or computer. The Android app is in testing now, and an iPhone app is coming soon.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, any time, from Account Settings. See the privacy policy.
